David “Dave” Carmack is a veteran in the hoist manufacturing and entertainment motors industry, with over four decades of experience spanning engineering, product design, training, and consulting.
Early Career & Industry Background
Carmack began his professional journey on November 7, 1978, at Columbus McKinnon in Abingdon, Virginia, working at the hoist manufacturing plant. He spent 20 years in hoist manufacturing, progressing to roles such as Product Design Engineering Technician and Product Engineering, before moving to the Damascus, Virginia facility. He later served as Global Entertainment Product Trainer at Columbus McKinnon.
Consulting & Training Work
In 2020, Carmack launched Dave Carmack Consulting, offering the same business consulting services that has earned him respect all around the globe.
His consulting work includes:
- Professional Hoist Management and Common-Sense Rigging Fundamentals training for entertainment motors.
- Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) recognition since April 2020.
- Guidance on setting up service stations and protecting expensive equipment.
He has traveled over a million miles, teaching tens of thousands of students across six of the seven continents, earning respect in the entertainment technology market.
